Who are we?
Asheville Carpenter, Inc. principal Eric Schenk began his career in Chicago in 1991, working with a design/build architect specializing in residential renovations and work/live spaces. During this formative period, Eric also apprenticed at a custom cabinetry company, honing his detailed carpentry skills.
After relocating to Atlanta, GA, Eric joined a commercial construction company, where he contributed to building offices and restaurants. In 1994, he ventured out on his own, focusing on remodeling and renovating. His business grew steadily through word of mouth, as he dedicated himself to single projects, ensuring he provided full attention to each client.
Becoming a father of two boys sparked Eric’s desire to live in the beautiful mountains of NC, prompting him to relocate his carpentry business to Asheville in 2001. Soon after, he was managing a small crew engaged in stick framing new houses. The projects varied significantly in size, ranging from 800 to 15,000 square feet, and encompassed everything from straightforward living spaces to intricate luxury homes. Asheville Carpenter, Inc. was involved in all phases of construction, from foundation to finish.
A significant milestone in Eric’s career came in 2009 when he obtained his NC General Contractor's license. Since then, he has remained actively involved in the field, continuously enhancing his knowledge of building codes and sustainable building practices. By 2014, Eric transformed his business into Asheville Carpenter, Inc.
Today, Eric continues to work on-site, focusing on one project at a time, now also offering in-house CAD and drafting services to his customers.
